Mumbai: In a disappointment for some sections of the ruling Congress in the state, Maharashtra failed to get any fresh representation in the comprehensive federal Cabinet expansion carried out by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Sunday. Though three vacancies had arisen in the Manmohan Singh Cabinet during the last 15 months owing to the exit of three ministers — Gurudas Kamat, Vilasrao Deshmukh and Mukul Wasnik — from Maharashtra, the Prime Minister did not fill these slots with other ministerial aspirants from the state in the expansion of his Cabinet that he resorted to earlier in the day.
